F.S. §316.027 — Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death or Injury

Requires a driver involved in a crash that causes injury or death to stop and remain at the scene, and makes leaving a felony.

What this section covers

The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash that results in injury or death must immediately stop at the scene, or as close to it as possible, and remain there until the duties to give information and render aid have been fulfilled.

Offense levels for willfully leaving

The crash resulted in Offense level
Injury other than serious bodily injury Third-degree felony
Serious bodily injury Second-degree felony
Death First-degree felony, with a mandatory minimum of 4 years in prison
